Centre Mario Lemieux was 21 years old when the 1987-1988 season began, his 4th in the NHL, and played it for Pittsburgh Penguins. He played 77 of a possible 80 games and scored 70 goals and 98 assists for 168 points, 2.18 points per game. Pittsburgh Penguins did not reach the playoffs. He won Art Ross Trophy, the first Swede ever to do it. He also won Hart Memorial Trophy, the first Swede ever to do it. He also won Ted Lindsay Award, the first Swede ever to do it.
