Centre Mark Messier was 28 years old when the 1989-1990 season began, his 11th in the NHL, and played it for Edmonton Oilers. He played 79 of a possible 80 games and scored 45 goals and 84 assists for 129 points, 1.63 points per game. The season ended with Mark Messier winning the Stanley Cup with Edmonton Oilers against Boston Bruins, after 22 playoff games and 31 points. He also won Hart Memorial Trophy, the first Swede ever to do it. He also won Ted Lindsay Award, the first Swede ever to do it.
